Get to know Mike’s Success Story at Fit2Live Below!
Mike has been crushing workouts and crashing on the upstairs futon at Fit2Live for 8+ years now, he is the closest thing to a Fit2Live tenant there is. He is a constant staple in most classes at Fit2Live and consistently brings his hard work, no excuses attitude every time he is at the gym. I can’t recall ever hearing a complaint out of Mike’s mouth (even after doing “Kalsu” 3 years in a row on the 4th of July). He is constantly involved in community events and can strike up a conversation with just about anyone. For these reasons and many more Mike has been chosen as our Fit2Live member of the month!

When and why did you get started with us?
I started at Fit2Live in November of 2011. I had just finished law school and had moved back to the area and was looking for a hobby/activity. I had followed/known about CrossFit since it first started and was curious to go to an actual gym. A friend of mine from high school went to Fit2Live at the time and suggested I give it a try.
What do you like most about Fit2Live?
By far the best thing about Fit2Live is the community. The community has been fantastic since day 1. Even though individuals have come and gone, the atmosphere and camaraderie has stayed a constant.
Favorite workout/least favorite workout and/or favorite CrossFit movement/least favorite CrossFit movement?
My favorite workout is “Fran” because it is fast. My least favorite is “Filthy Fifty” because it is a lot of reps of light weight and long….I just don’t like it lol.
If you could make the workout “Friese”, what would it look like (movements, repetitions, etc)?
A triplet of shoulder to overhead, pull-ups, front squats (or power cleans/squat cleans). Maybe a 21-15-9@135lbs.
Pick one of each, favorite movie, tv show, song and book of all time for you?
Movie: I am going to say “Willow”
Tv Show: “Perfect Strangers”
Book: “House of Leaves” … “Hero with a Thousand Faces” is a close second.
Name a skill or hobby that you have that not many of us know about.
Skill: I am a decent public speaker.
You have always been known as being a consistent, hard working, and strong athlete at Fit2Live but recently your fitness and body composition have been taken to the next level, what have you changed in your routine/nutrition and/or what has been the difference maker for you the last 4-5 months?
Probably the biggest thing is a change in mindset where I decided to attack the workouts a little more aggressively rather than just do them. Next, I cut out cream in my coffee/limit my fast food intake. I didn’t completely cut out any food, I maintain a kind of flexible diet where I try to keep a watch on the calories but also listen to my body to give it enough to handle the amount of training I do. Finally, I increased the number of workouts I do during the week.
What is your biggest future goal at Fit2Live/what are you working towards right now?
I would say generally increasing strength and conditioning. Currently working on getting my squats (both front and back) up.
