This is Mike, we’ve been tracking his journey over the last year at Fit2Live.
When Mike joined us a year ago he stated that he wanted to prepare physically for his retirement.
He knew the path he was on was leading him to a sedentary and unfulfilled retirement, one that would sideline him for all the fun stuff he still wanted to do.
In 1 short year Mike has not only prepared for his retirement, he has completely changed his life for the better.
He is doing things with his body that he never imagined.
Perhaps most notably, he has drastically flipped the stereotype upside down that says you need to lose weight to see progress and be healthy.
Health and fitness progress comes in many different forms and usually isn’t about bodyweight lost.
In 1 year at Fit2Live Mike has plotted his body composition monthly as he worked alongside Coach EJ with nutrition and wellness coaching and came to class at Fit2Live 3-4 times a week.
Take a look at the results of his hard work:
You can see that Mike has actually GAINED WEIGHT since he started in January of 2023.
Some would see this as a complete failure.
Without the right data your progress can be blinded.
When we look at Mike’s body composition with the metrics that actually correlate to health (muscle mass and bodyfat) we can clearly see that Mike is CRUSHING IT!
HE HAS GAINED NEARLY 10LBS OF MUSCLE AND LOST NEARLY 4.5% BODYFAT!
THAT’S INCREDIBLE!
Not only has Mike crushed it with his body composition but he is also noticing results all over the place.
His blood markers are improving as are his sleep, mental health, healthy lifestyle habits.
He is doing things inside and outside of Fit2Live that he couldn’t previously do without pain, those things are now easier for him to accomplish with less pain or no pain at all.
The lessons here are:
1. Bodyweight and BMI DO NOT tell the real picture of your health and fitness results.
2. The relationship between muscle mass and bodyfat is what really tells a more accurate picture of health and fitness results.
3. Results can also come in the form of consistency, healthier habits, mental health, performance with what you can now do with your body and more.
4. Mike is awesome!
Thanks for sharing your progress Mike.
Keep it up the great work!
Remember, more muscle and less bodyfat is the key to health and function, NOT BMI and Bodyweight.
You too can prepare to live your life pre and post retirement just like Mike has done!
In 1 short year he has drastically changed the trajectory of his future.
You can too!
