What can a nutrition coach do that ChatGPT cannot?

What can a nutrition coach do that ChatGPT cannot?

ChatGPT can make you a meal plan. It can give you instructions for balancing your macros and send you recipes for using up random ingredients in your fridge.

If you haven’t tried using AI for those things, you’re probably missing out. It is fun, time-efficient, and informative. So how is that different from what a nutrition coach does?

A nutrition coach is the human support and accountability on the other end of your goals. A nutrition coach helps you drill down into why your goals are important to you, and helps you hold them front and center as you make changes in your life.

It’s a misunderstanding to believe that making “small” changes is easy. One reason that many people don’t implement habits they know to be healthy and even want to do is that it is really tough to build and sustain new routines. A nutrition coach reminds you that the small things matter, even when they don’t seem interesting or dramatic.

A nutrition coach also helps you think about integrating healthy habits across the varying circumstances of normal life. You know you should “eat more protein” to support your muscle growth, but what about on the weekend or when you ran out of time to meal prep? A nutrition coach helps you move away from all-or-nothing thinking by anticipating challenges and working through setbacks with you.

A fitness coach reminds you of the same cues over and over because they care about your form – and because good technique allows you to scale safely. A nutrition coach reminds you that your habits around sleep, hydration, fueling, stress management, and lifestyle are all integrated. A nutrition coach will walk with you through the journey, not just a 30 day fix or a risky and restrictive crash diet. A nutrition coach helps you notice what’s changing in your body, energy levels, and mindset. Most of us probably harbor misconceptions and problematic beliefs around food, weight, and body image. A nutrition coach might be the person you talk to when you uncover one or more of these misconceptions.

It might surprise you to learn that a lot of what we work on in 1:1 nutrition coaching seems small, but that doesn’t mean it’s insignificant. In fact, a nutrition coach may be just what you need to get going on making small, meaningful, measurable, high-impact changes that move you closer to your goals.

If you want to overhaul your weekly recipes, AI can make you a printable plan and grocery list. But if you want to interrupt the patterns that are not working for you and replace them with sustainable habits that lead to a lifestyle change, schedule a conversation with one of our nutrition coaches. We would love to meet you!
