MONICA BUENO- MEMBER OF THE MONTH FOR FEBRUARY 2025 AT FIT2LIVE!

This month’s member spotlight is on the hard working, soft spoken and very driven Monica Bueno!

Monica got her start at Fit2Live in March of 2023.

She had relocated to Ann Arbor and was looking for a gym to help her stay accountable with her fitness goals. She also wanted to be surrounded by awesome members to motivate and encourage her along the way.

She has certainly found that and more in the last 2.5 years.

With her dedication to fitness and a fun, witty personality she is a perfect fit in the Fit2Live community.

Monica consistently shows up to class 4-5x each week and has been rewarded with more strength and functional fitness which she will no doubt use for the rest of her life.

Monica uses her fitness to bike, hike, camp, stay active with her dog and to compete in our last two Fall Brawl Competitions, going as far as taking second place in last year’s Fall Brawl.

For these reasons and many more, Monica has been chosen as our member of the month for February!

Tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what you do outside of Fit2Live, family, hobbies, etc.

I’m originally from Colombia and came to the States back in 2018 to attend a strategic planning boot camp at Miami Ad School in Atlanta. After that, in 2019 I moved to Detroit for a job opportunity and to level up my career in advertising. I currently live in Ann Arbor with my boyfriend and our Border Collie pup, Tiberio.

I work as a Senior Project Manager at a marketing company that oversees product information and compliance for Ford. In addition to my main job, I’ve also picked up pet sitting over the years. I started working at my family’s boarding facility in Peachtree City, Georgia, and now I do it as a side gig that I truly love and enjoy.

In my free time, I enjoy biking, watching cycling tours, going on picnics with my boyfriend and my dog, trying new food and traveling.

When and why did you get started at Fit2Live?

I began my journey at Fit2Live in March 2023. At that time, I was relocating to Ann Arbor and searching for a CrossFit gym where I could improve my endurance and fitness.

What is your fondest memory at Fit2Live so far?

I’m not sure I can choose just one, but the 2024 Fall Brawl is one of my favorites, along with the continuous celebration of each other’s milestones and new PRs.

What do you like most about Fit2Live, what keeps you coming back?

What I love most about Fit2Live is definitely the people and the coaches. I’ve tried out several CrossFit gyms before, but none of them have the same vibe or the level of support that Fit2Live does. I keep coming back because I really feel like I’m part of the community; it’s my safe spot, and it motivates me to keep pushing in my everyday life.

What does your perfect day look like?

A perfect day for me would be having my whole family together, chilling by the pool or beach on a sunny day, and enjoying some delicious Colombian food.

If you could travel to any place in the world tomorrow, where would you go?

I’d love to go to Italy; it has everything I’m looking for in one spot. Rich history and architecture, stunning coastal views, and the cuisine is just out of this world!

What is an unknown (or less know ) fact and talent that you have?

I’m a certified Professional Organizer, I have a talent for organizing and optimizing spaces. I love helping people find sustainable solutions that boost productivity, lower stress, and make any area feel more balanced and peaceful.

What daily habit has changed your life for the better?

No phone before bed for at least 30 minutes really helps me out. It’s made my sleep way better, lowers my stress, and calms my mind. I don’t have as many nightmares (it used to happen a lot), and avoiding that late night scrolling helps me stick to my sleep schedule too.

What future fitness goal are you currently working towards?

My goal is to build endurance, I want to improve my overall work capacity across high intensity workouts.  I’m working on getting better at keeping up my pace during longer WODs while maintaining power and efficiency. Plus, I’m paying attention to how my body feels, focusing on nutrition and proper recovery.
