This month’s member spotlight is on the incredibly consistent and friendly Fit2Live Personal Training client Mahshid Abir!
Mahshid got her start at Fit2Live in October of 2022 with 1-on-1 Personal Training with Coach Brandon and Nutrition and Wellness Coaching with Coach EJ.
She was looking to get back on track with her fitness routine after the pandemic.
Over the last 3 years she has certainly gotten back and track with her health and fitness and then some.
Mahshid consistently trains with Coach Brandon 2-3 times each and every week and is a regular on our Personal Training committed club board for at least 8 sessions in a month.
She shows up, quietly puts in the work and has a smile to show for it afterwards.
When she isn’t kicking fitness butt at Fit2Live she is using her fitness with her 2 awesome kids at home and at work saving lives and creating public policy at the University of Michigan.
For these reasons and many more Mahshid has been chosen as our member of the month for October!

Tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what you do outside of Fit2Live, family, hobbies, etc.
I was born and raised in Iran. I moved to the U.S. by myself at 18. My husband and I have two kids and two dogs. We love traveling and cooking.
When and why did you get started at Fit2Live?
I started in Fall 2022. I had done crossfit for a few years at a different gym before the pandemic and stopped going during the pandemic and they eventually closed permanently. I was really lucky to find Fit2Live. I was looking to get back in the gym as the pandemic did a number on my mind and body.
You are quite the consistent personal training client with Coach Brandon. What do you like most about PT with Brandon? What has he helped you with the most?
Brandon is the most knowledgeable and focused trainer I’ve had. He pays attention during sessions and pushes me more or less depending on different factors (I think!). Although most months I have 2-3 sessions per week, his flexible approach makes me be able to stick with the training. He’s also hilarious – that helps!

You are quite the accomplished emergency physician and mom of 2 pretty awesome kids. Give us one medical tip/habit that could save our lives and give us your best parenting hack.
Learn CPR! You never know when it will come handy.
I routinely take my kids’ phones away from them when they don’t behave or follow house rules as a way to curb their screen time. They hate it, but it’s effective!
What is a fun fact or hobby that you have that someone might not know about you?
I work for RAND – a Think Tank that does public policy research.
If you could travel to any place in the world tomorrow, where would you go and what would you do?
I’d go to Tanzania to visit the Serengeti and see the wildlife.
If you could make the workout “Mahshid”, what would it look like (movements, repetitions, etc)?
