This month’s member spotlight is on the down to earth, hard working and friendly Josh Geary!

Josh got his start at Fit2Live in November of 2022.

Josh had just moved to Ann Arbor with his wife and was looking for a fitness routine that would stick-something that would keep him motivated, supported, and coming back week after week. And that’s exactly what he found at Fit2Live.

Over two years later, Josh is now a proud member of the 250 Class Club!

He shows up to class four times a week, steadily getting stronger, and quietly putting in the work without ever needing the spotlight.

He constantly supports those around him and puts off nothing but positive good vibes.

He has certainly fully embraced what it means to make Fit2Live the best hour of his day.

For these reasons and many more, Josh has been chosen as our member of the month for July!

Tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what you do outside of Fit2Live, family, hobbies, etc.

My wife and I (and our dog, Randall) moved to Ann Arbor from Washington D.C., but I grew up in Oakland County and went to Central Michigan University for college (Fire Up!). I work for a non-profit loan fund, doing public relations and fundraising. As far as hobbies, I LOVE baseball, reading books, and my wife and I love being outside with our dog. We like to visit national and state parks when we travel. I also watch a lot of movies (if you are also on letterboxd please follow me).

When and why did you get started at Fit2Live? What is one tip you would give to someone starting out at Fit2Live?

When we moved to Ann Arbor in October 2022, we were looking for a new gym. My wife had set up a meeting with Ryan and I tagged along, despite being a CrossFit skeptic. But I am still here! My tip would be to remember that everyone at the gym had their first day at one point. I am hitting milestones now that felt impossible when I first started, and there are still things I want to accomplish that feel out of reach. Be proud of yourself for moving your body.

What is your favorite part of Fit2Live, what keeps you coming back?

I really appreciate not having to plan my workouts, I cannot stress that enough. I also really appreciate the coaching staff and the way they keep classes structured but fun, and always make time to give you advice to improve your movements.

What is a fun, maybe unknown hobby or talent that you have?

I am pretty good at doing the NYT Mini crossword in less than 30 seconds. I love crossword puzzles.

If you could make the workout “Josh”, what would it look like (movements, repetitions, etc)?

AMRAP 20 of:
200 meter run
2 Rope climbs
100 Single unders
15 Pull ups
10 Power Cleans

Walk in the park with my dog

A workout at Fit2Live (duh)
A baseball game

What are 3 things at the top of your bucket list?

1. Visit Alaska
2. Visit Ireland
3. Visit all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums

What current fitness goal are you working towards?

I am determined to do a full bar muscle-up. Getting close!
