Have you ever wondered why nutrition is the base of the CrossFit pyramid?
It is important to show up to class and to do the work, even when you don’t always feel like it but, at some point, you will reach a plateau. If you desire an overall healthy lifestyle, you will need to look at what you are putting into your body as well as how you are moving your body. A healthy lifestyle is more than just strong muscles. It is getting enough sleep so your body can recover, it is having healthy ways to deal with stress, it is good hydration and it is having a balanced way of eating.
At Fit2Live we believe that something as fundamental as nutrition shouldn’t be complicated. Good nutrition is fundamental to improving your fitness and to an overall healthy lifestyle.
Recently, one of our members shared with me that when he decided to pay attention to his nutrition, his entire life changed. He had more energy in life and in class. His workouts got better, and he just felt good. He participated in a nutrition challenge and started paying attention to eating vegetables, protein, healthy starch and a little bit of healthy fat in most of his meals and he saw the overwhelming benefits that good fueling can bring. He also told me that when he stops paying attention to these things, he notices within a few days that his energy is lower, his motivation is lower, his sleep is not as good and he doesn’t feel like himself. He said he never realized how important nutrition could be and how a few changes could have such a big impact on his entire life.
