Get to know Dave’s Success Story at Fit2Live Below!
This month’s spotlight is on the consistent, humorous and appropriately intense Dave Klubeck!
Dave has been a member at Fit2Live since March of 2020 but didn’t start kicking butt in class until July of 2021 (read more about that below). He constantly brings a hard working, mentally tough and overly competitive (but fairly well balanced) attitude each time he is in class at Fit2Live. On top of this hard work and intensity he adds in a layer of humor and fun to balance it all out. There isn’t a pop culture reference he doesn’t know and he is a constant staple in the 6am and Endurance classes. On top of all of his hard work at Fit2Live, Dave also brings the same intensity to his family of two little boys and to his full time career. For these reasons and many more, Dave has been chosen as our member of the month for January.
Tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what you do outside of Fit2Live, family, hobbies, etc.
I am Dave. The Player of Games. He Who Walks Behind the Roles. Life is full of enough love, death and taxes so I am an avid fan of scifi and fantasy. The more over the top and bonkers, the better. I live in the Millennial Cycle: Family, Gym and Work…wash, rinse, and repeat. Emphasis on work. I suffer from an unquiet squirrel brain, so it’s not unusual to find me playing a game, listening to a book, or watching a streaming service. I am convinced that I’m hilarious. I am so competitive that I think it qualifies as a mental defect. And there is no greater joy than curling up under a heavy blanket, stoned and watching a documentary on corporate greed and economic collapse.
When and why did you get started at Fit2Live?
…Hrm, that’s a complicated story. So about a year ago, my wife, Krystal, scheduled a class together deliberately because I hadn’t made the effort to go prior. That first class was with Rob, and it took about 15mins of pike Push Ups and Conan Walks for me to recognize that I was pretty basic. Challenge accepted, and I’ve been squatting in the same square at F2L ever since.
What is your favorite part of Fit2Live, what keeps you coming back?
Watching Sharon react to Taylor, and the 6am crew…which is turning into a pretty big crew now.
You have lived quite the interesting life thus far. Give us 3 lesser known fun facts about yourself.
1. My ADHD is so bad that I own 2 big TVs side by side so I can play games and watch TV at the same time…and I can still rationalize a 3rd.
2. While employed by him as a M&A Risk Modeler, I used to buy weed for a newsworthy CEO who nicknamed me “Disaster Dave”.
3. I chose my initial career because I was too irresponsible with money to travel, so I made work pay for it instead. I’ve worked inside 24 companies, in 9 countries and 11 industries. And I’ve lived at one time or another in every state in the US.
Tell us a little about your previous athletic endeavors. Of those, which one did you enjoy the most?
…I grew up as an Army brat to parents who were survivalists and adventure athletes. I was a national swimmer and diver during my teens. A gymnast. Sprint cyclist and speed skater. And through college I was both a marathoner and sprinter (unusual I know) while I trained for the Beijing Olympic Games. I’ve always said I was designed by nature to be fast in every way, so speed skating was my favorite.
What is one lesson you have learned as a parent and what is your motto for parenting?
Parenting hack #1: There are no hacks. Everything is hard. Even with the best advice, you still have to figure it out yourself. Kids don’t listen. You made this choice. This is your life now. Godspeed.

I can’t take credit for that workout. It’s an Endurance workout that Brandon put together. I had an amazing partner (shoutout to my dude Luke), and that workout was so gratifying. It is my favorite workout at F2L to date.
Favorites:
Movie: Stardust or Dark City or Stranger Than Fiction TV show: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Song: Where Is My Mind by the Pixies Book: 10% Happier by Dan Harris Quote: “I know every combo in the game, but Life just keeps mashing the damn ‘A’ button!”
What daily habit has changed your life for the better?
Looking at yourself in the mirror while you breathe in for 4 seconds, then out for 4 seconds, and telling yourself “F**k it. Pain heals, people dig scars, glory is forever.”
What is the most challenging/grittiest thing you have done in your life?
There have been so many challenges…but the one I’m most proud of is when I was 26yrs old. I’m struggling to find myself selling off the last odds and ends of the Borders Bookstore Chain. And on my last day I decided to give away everything I owned, except what would fit in a duffle bag that I still have in my basement. Hopped on a plane to San Francisco with no friends, family or housing waiting for me and no more than $123 in cash. It was the most badass thing I’ve ever done and because of that choice I have a beautiful wife, two boys, a house and more than I could have ever wanted.
What is at the very top of your bucket list?
I’ve always wanted to own twitter…I think I could really bring it back from the brink, you know?
What current fitness goal are you working towards?
Ring muscle ups…nuff said.
THANKS FOR BEING AWESOME DAVE! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
