BRYAN ROBY- MEMBER OF THE MONTH FOR MARCH 2026

MARCH 2026

This month’s spotlight is on the laid-back, oh so cool and always-friendly Bryan Roby!

Bryan got his start at Fit2Live in December of 2023, and from the outside, you might assume he’s always loved working out.

But early on in his journey, Bryan told us something pretty surprising.

He said he hated working out and didn’t think this whole fitness thing would be for him.

Fast forward just over 2 years later and the story looks very different.

Bryan is now a proud member of the 250 Class Club, consistently showing up to class each and every week, and proving that fitness can absolutely become something you enjoy when you find the right environment.

He does this on top of his busy schedule as a professor.

Bryan makes his health a priority. He shows up focused, puts in the work, and brings a calm, steady energy to every class he attends.

And the results speak for themselves, he’s gained 10lbs of muscle over the last 2 years!

But what makes Bryan such a great Member of the Month isn’t just the physical progress.

It’s the consistency, it’s the mindset shift, it’s the fact that someone who once thought fitness “wasn’t for him” has now built a routine that truly sticks.

Bryan is proof that you don’t have to be a fitness fanatic to succeed. You just need to be coachable, consistent, and willing to show up.

For these reasons and many more, Bryan has been chosen as our Member of the Month for March!

Tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, what you do outside of Fit2Live, family, hobbies, etc.

I’m originally from  Chicago (Southside!) but spent most of my adulthood in the UK and Israel, with a bit of time spent in the Netherlands and France. I’ve now been in the Ann Arbor area for a decade. I enjoy traveling, gardening, cooking, and hanging out at the park.

When and why did you get started at Fit2Live? What keeps you coming back?

I started coming to Fit2Live a few years back. Kira (the GOAT!!) had been encouraging me to join for years but, having never really been to a gym before, I refused. Going to the gym seemed absurd. Paying someone so I can sweat and get out of breath?! No thank you. These hands are built for writing, these glutes for sitting. But, even after the first couple of ‘bring a buddy’ classes with EJ and Brandon, I had the sense this was a pretty cool community.

What is your fondest memory at Fit2Live thus far?

So hard to choose one single memory. So I’d say, whenever I realize I could do something that never seemed possible, from wall walks to power cleans. My first months at Fit2Live, most things (apart from squats with a pvc pipe) seemed impossible. Now, powerlifting, (jumping) bar muscle ups, and wall walks are some of my favorite movements.

You are a busy professor, what is your hack to prioritize regular fitness and how has fitness helped to balance out your mentally tasking day job?

Scheduling a dedicated time to go to the gym for at least 2-3 times a week and treating it like any other scheduled appointment keeps me coming regularly. I find that it’s great chance to decompress that doesn’t involve sitting or thinking too much.

What is 1 fun fact and 1 hobby that you have that someone might not know about you?

I used to be a classical musician and performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. I play the video game Overwatch pretty regularly as a hobby, and I’m ranked in the top 15% of console players.

If you could travel to any place in the world tomorrow, where would you go and what would you do?

Definitely Brussels, Belgium. Such a great mid-sized city where everyone speaks the languages I know. Bogota, Colombia, is a close second.

If you could make the workout “Bryan”, what would it look like (movements, repetitions, etc)?

Twenty minutes of stretches followed by 18-25 minutes of something involving power cleans, bar muscle-ups, deck squats, and plank holds  with 400m rows after each movement
